Benefact £5,000 Award
Thanks to all who nominated us for a Benefact £5,000 award – this time we didn’t win but there are still lots of chances for us to win £1,000 left this year.
Errollyn Wallen, our new Master of the King’s Music, challenged composers to write a song in the extra hour as the clocks went back early on Sunday morning. Our Artistic Director, Frances M Lynch, rose to the challenge, and in just over an hour made this:-
“Hour Song” for Errollyn
for acapella voices, mouth clicks and body percussion
I often say
I wish there were more hours in a day
And now
Here it is
One
More
Hour
What should I do with it?
Plant bulbs in the garden?
No – too dark out there
Hoovering, cleaning?
No – too noisy for neighbours
Reading or writing?
No – too tired for thinking
Look at the moon, count the stars?
No – too cloudy up there
Wait!
I know just the thing…
OH!
Too Late
It’s gone
That
One
More
Hour
In the day
We have so many projects we’d love to do promoting women in music and science, past and present, working with children and adults, commissioning composers, researching, rehearsing and performing – and you can still help –
Just click on the picture
It takes barely 1 minute
Costs you nothing
Thanks so much!
